2019 SHONE A BRIGHT LIGHT ON WHO WE ALL ARE

In years to come, like rings in the bark of a tree, our memories will reflect that in 2019 there was a massive disturbance in our lives; rings of compacted thin lines showing malnourishment, infestation, and trauma, and rings of extra reaction or compression wood that we had to build to support ourselves, as we struggled to straighten up to our normal position.

The vibration of all our collective emotions during this trying time must have surely soared off the frequency charts. ‘I get scared when I can’t breathe behind a mask.’ ‘I am devastated that I haven’t seen my mother for four months.’ ‘My heart starts racing and my jaw clenches as I drive past the soccer field where we should be playing.’

The pandemic was a huge test on our patience as we spent our lives waiting . . .

Waiting for re-openings
waiting for kisses and warm embraces
waiting to be normal and grow
waiting for prayers to be answered
and waiting to roam freely
as the worldwide death numbers crawled to zero.

This was the year when every human on the planet came across an enormous obstacle on their journey through life as they faced mortality, confinement, job loss, financial devastation, health/fitness decline, abandoned goals/dreams, and compromised freedom. We all instinctively knew that life would never be the same again, however our strength and hope prevailed as we scurried off our roads into the rough country, where, for three years and more, we utilized all our natural tools – talents, emotions, morals, and empathy – as we:
– shut out negatives and focused on positives
– dressed our wounds
– implemented new ways
– navigated with skill
– became aware of our surroundings and kept everyone safe
– picked up our pace
– steadied and balanced our lives so that we could stand in good stead for when the time came for us to skip back onto our road

From on-line education for children, to managing our isolated Seniors’ health and loneliness, to supporting all businesses, while continuing to keep the merriment of life alive i.e. sport, entertainment, etc., we kept living courageously and confidently, as we expressed the most powerful emotion – LOVE.

Looking back we can see that through all the suffering our Tree of Life stood erect and tall; its sturdy branches packed with a huge shimmer of dark, green vibrant leaves, which flapped and rubbed against each other in the breeze.

What an overwhelming time that was, ultimately showing us that we are always there for each other, for better or for worse; even when devastating, disrupting little intruders land on our paths.
